ABOUT  EB HAWKS

Hello. I am Boomer — a mixed media artist, graphic and web designer, art journaler, DIYer, card maker, crafty-momma living an artful life.

EB Hawks

Mixed Media Artist

I am EB Hawks. My birth name is Elizabeth, but I am known to many only by my lifelong nickname, Boomer. I am inspired by typography, patterns, colors, and images at every turn. Turning this inspiration into concrete designs makes my soul sing. I log a lot of my inspiration on Pinterest so I can come back to the ideas and experiment with them.

I work with mixed media – paper, acrylic paint, watercolor, ink, color pencils, pastels, fabrics, photos… anything that I can find, really. I’m a product hoarder, so I try to work different products into my work resulting in many layers of added depth and texture.

Sometimes I am wholly over my head. I think, “I can do that” only to realize that I don’t have any idea how to do that. Inevitably at this point, I will have a big ugly phase and start to panic. Then, I renew my trust in the creative process and work through it. I am constantly reminding myself of the importance of forward motion.

I’m happy you’ve found me and hope you will join in on this creative journey. Look around the blog. Find some inspiration, techniques, and ideas you can use. My wish is that you make art that makes your soul sing, too!

“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”

Three Things That Most Influence My Art

Nature

My experiences growing up outdoors, my love of hiking and camping, and the sense of calm I feel when I enter nature influence my art.

Graphic Design

My design and marketing career influence my art in many ways including composition, color choices, and — above all — typography.

Travel

My husband recently retired from the Navy after 21 years. The various places we lived and visited manifest in my art settings and landscapes.
