Art Class

Loved the Melting Pot

It’s a melting pot of mixed media goodness.

— Laura Horn

Laura Horn is a mixed media artist living and working in Adelaide, South Australia. Her abstract work is full of pattern, texture, and vibrant color featuring elements of nature. I first became attracted to Laura Horn’s art on Instagram. Her posts consistently grabbed my attention. I was pleasantly surprised when she appeared as a guest instructor in LifeBook 2018. So when she released a new, very affordable online class, on May 1, I signed up.

The Melting Pot

The class consists of three art pieces: a mark making mixed media piece and then 2 other pieces inspired by the process of the first.

The videos are well edited and paced. Sometimes I feel like online teachers talk too much or show too much real-time art making when time-lapse would be a more effective use of my viewing time. The Melting Pot was the perfect balance of instruction and time-lapse. I completed these 2 pieces in 2 nights and really feel like I could still “redo” the class and come out with a variety of different outcomes.
